Soraya Hutchinson
I’m a figurative oil painter, working primarily from life and memory. My practice is rooted in observation and emotional inquiry—painting is my way of making sense of the world. I rearrange and reimagine everyday moments to explore how we inhabit space and relate to one another.
Often drawing from friends, family, and familiar spaces, my work becomes a dialogue between what is seen and what is felt.
I begin my process with environments—home or open-air spaces—placing figures to explore their emotional and physical connections. The painting evolves as I work, guided by conversations with the painting.
